ELEX Upgrade
New Bern, NC - Southern Environmental, Inc. upgraded the first two (2) fields of the existing three (3) field electrostatic precipitators utilizing its SEI/ELEX rigid discharge electrodes (RDEs). The first mechanical field was sectionalized into two (2) electrical fields and equipped with RDEs featuring opposed emitter tabs to provide the current necessary to overcome space charge. The second field received RDEs with staggered emitter tabs and a new Switch Mode Power Supply to provide the necessary voltage for efficient collection.

Electrostatic Precipitator Performance Upgrade
Augusta, GA - SEI installed its ELEX rigid discharge electrodes in the existing high voltage frames. The narrow profile of the ELEX electrode allowed this to be accomplished while maintaining the existing CE spacing of 9” in the first field and 12” in the second and third fields. A physical model study ensured proper flow characteristics throughout the electrostatic precipitator and, coupled with damper replacement, achieved significant system pressure loss reduction.
Aemerge Redpak
DSI + Pulse Jet Baghouse
Hesperia, CA - Aemerge Redpak required an APC system for their Hesperia Medical Waste Processing Facility in California. The baghouse system was to remove hydrochloric acid gas (HCl) and particulate matter from the exhaust gas. As the project progressed, SEI was asked to provide solutions for the capture and routing of combustion gas streams from multiple sources to a common stack. Considerations also included explosion venting, emergency high temperature purge, bare dampers and a CEM system.
Kapstone(WestrocK)
outlet RB duct exhaust system
Longview, WA - SEI abandoned the old duct in place, redesigning the exit configuration from the electrostatic precipitator to exhaust through an abandoned scrubber stack. The reroute required a new fan which was placed at grade to eliminate vibration challenges that were present with the existing fan. In addition to the duct project, SEI retrofitted its proprietary ELEX two-piece electrodes into the electrostatic precipitator in order to improve long-term performance of the ESP by replacing the existing pipe and spike discharge electrodes.
Kapstone was acquired by Westrock in 2018.
